The hartaus

We print real mathematics on clothing. Each design is an exact drawing of a single object (a knot, a group, a curve, a σ-algebra), reproduced at the size it is meant to be seen. None of it is ornament.

Worn, it reads as a clean geometric print. Anyone can see it's well-made and leave it at that. But the figure is the real object, exactly as it is defined, and the person wearing it knows precisely what it is and where it comes from. The design works both ways: as something good to look at, and as the thing itself.

We describe each piece plainly. We tell you what the object is, and the label just names it. You will not find puns or slogans here. The drawing is the design.

We started this out of frustration. Most math clothing leans on cheap jokes or a scatter of symbols, worn to be decoded by strangers. We wanted the opposite: an object drawn correctly, quiet enough to wear anywhere, and legible only to the few who would recognize it. We print the object itself, exactly, and leave it to stand on its own.

The catalogue lists everything we make. The library collects the sources these objects come from.
